Scooter Rental Terms

Please read the following conditions of this rental agreement between Sumba Rental Bikes and the renter:

1. Driving License: A valid driver’s license with the appropriate category is required. The renter must be proficient in riding a motorbike and have prior experience.
2. Minimum Rental Period: The minimum rental period is 2 days. Shorter rentals can be arranged but will still be charged as 2 days.
3. Security Deposit: A refundable deposit is required as follows:
   a. For Scooters above 150cc (Honda Vario & ADV): US$ 60 / IDR 1,000,000
   b. For Manual Bikes (Honda CRF & KLX): US$ 120 / IDR 2,000,000
4. Third-Party Liability: The renter is fully responsible for any damage or injury caused to third parties.
5. Flat Tires: If caused by road hazards (e.g., nails), the renter must cover the repair cost. If due to wear and tear, the company will cover it.
6. Unused Fuel: No refunds for unused fuel.
7. Travel Restrictions: Vehicles may not be taken off Sumba without prior permission.
8. Driver Limit: Only the renter is allowed to drive the vehicle unless authorized.
9. Lost Items/Damages: The renter is responsible for the following losses or damages:
   a. Lost Helmet: US$ 15 / IDR 250,000
   b. Lost Documents: US$ 60 / IDR 1,000,000
   c. Lost Remote key: US$ 90 / IDR 1,500,000 (plus delivery fee of IDR 5,000/km for replacement)
   d. Lost Box key: US$ 45 / IDR 700,000
   e. Lost Surf rack: US$ 55 / IDR 900,000
   f.  Broken box holder: US$ 50 / IDR 800,000
   g. Lost/Damaged box: US$ 60 / IDR 1,000,000
   h. Other damages will be assessed and deducted from the deposit accordingly.
10. Free Delivery, Pickup & Charges: Free delivery to Tambolaka Airport. Additional charges may apply outside service zones or hours.
11. Additional Delivery Charges: For deliveries outside the free zone, IDR 5,000/km applies.
    a. Kerewei/Nihi/Wanokaka: US$ 15 / IDR 250,000
    b. Waingapu: US$ 50 / IDR 800,000
    c. Other areas: Price upon request
12. Battery Drain & Assistance:
    a. If the scooter is left on (e.g., ignition not fully off), the battery may drain.
    b. Assistance is available for a travel fee of IDR 5,000/km. Waiting time may apply depending on staff availability.
    c. You can try asking around for jumper cables; and may attempt to jump-start it with a knowledgeable person.
13. Violation of Terms: Breach of any condition may result in immediate repossession and legal action under Indonesian law.
14. Vehicle Loss: If the vehicle is lost and the key is not returned, 70% of the market price for a new vehicle will be charged.
15. Liability Disclaimer: The company is not liable for any damage, loss, injury, or death to the renter, passengers, or others while using the motorbike.
16. Force Majeure: The company is not liable for failure to perform due to events beyond its control (e.g., natural disasters, war, epidemic, etc.) or for any legal violations by the renter.
17. Repairs & Transport Responsibility:
    • Issues due to normal use (e.g., wear and tear) will be covered by us.
    • If the issue is due to renter error (e.g., potholes, wrong fuel), you’ll be charged for repair and travel.
    • Example: If we drive 6 hours to assist and it’s your fault, those costs will be billed to you.
18. Fuel Responsibility: Only use the correct fuel type (Pertalite or Pertamax, as indicated). Any resulting damage from incorrect fuel will be charged to the renter.
19. Helmet Use & Safety: Helmets must be worn at all times. The company is not responsible for injuries resulting from non-use or unsafe riding.
20. Indemnity: The renter agrees to indemnify and hold harmless Sumba Rental Bikes from any claims, damages, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from the use or misuse of the vehicle.
21. Early Return Policy: There is no refund for any remaining rental days if the scooter is returned earlier than the original booking period.
22. Contract Acceptance: By accepting the vehicle or making payment, the renter agrees to all terms and conditions above.

Surfboard Rental Terms

1. Security Deposit: A refundable deposit of IDR 500,000 per board is required at the start of the rental.
2. Damage Responsibility: The renter is responsible for any dings, cracks, or pressure damage. Estimated repair costs:
   a. Small ding: IDR 150,000 – 200,000
   b. Medium crack/rail damage: IDR 250,000 – 500,000
   c. Major damage (e.g., snapped nose/tail, delamination): IDR 600,000+
3. Repair Options:
   a. Minor dings may be self-repaired with Solarez or similar UV-cure resin, as long as the repair is clean, watertight, and professionally done.
   b. For more serious damage, we recommend using a professional ding repair service. We can provide the location and contact information for a trusted repair specialist in Sumba.
   c. If you prefer not to repair the damage yourself, you can temporarily seal the ding with waterproof tape (e.g., aluminum tape provided in the boardbag) to prevent water from getting in. Please inform us—we’ll handle the repair, and the cost will be deducted from your deposit.
4. Deposit Refunds: The deposit will be refunded if the board is returned in the same condition or with an acceptable repair. Poor or unreported repairs will be assessed and charged accordingly.
5. Waterproof Phone Case: If you’re riding solo, don’t leave the remote key on the beach. Use the waterproof phone case to secure it to the strap inside your boardshorts pocket — just don’t lose it.
